a group of people are raising money for a cause.
NetSquared's 21 Featured Projects
In advance of the NetSquared Conference, I will be using seven group fundraising platforms to raise an additional $10,500 for the 21 featured projects.
This amount translates into a $500 "We like what you're doing" check for each of the projects we identified as exemplifying social change using the social web.
A $500 check would add nearly 25% to the cash award that each organizer has been guaranteed for their project’s operating expenses.
The money that we raise in the next ten days will be shared equally by the 21 featured projects — no strings attached, no pitch required, no corporate sponsor to thank.
As I see it, the $500 "We like what you’re doing" checks will serve as a financial acknowledge of the admiration we have already expressed by voting for these projects.
The checks also represent an added novelty to the NetSquared experiment with crowd-sourcing.
The lesson learned: Asking for advice in grant-making results in top-tier selections and larger grants.
By contributing to this campaign, you will have served as judge, agent, and funder of social innovation before all is said and done.
How cool is that?
As a nonprofit professional and voter in the NetSquared competition, you have already helped to judge and create social change.
I hope you will join me in funding it.
